Working to protect our privacy online and being encrypted citizens does require a set of online hygiene that we have to stick to in our online behavior. If we allow forums, like Blizzard's, to make such potent breaches of our privacy without regard we will certainly fail.

There is a trade-off in risk reward between a continuum of identity and the collision between different parts of our lives.

one more reason to not play on the official servers.

the wave of the future will be niche market games, tightly knit (smaller) communities, decentralized and peer-to-peer environments.. so honestly, fuck em. I've cast my lot with smaller games long ago and never looked back. Mainstream "MMORPGs" are not even RPGs.. too many fucking clowns coming in and ruining the environment for people who actually know how to stay in character while hacking and slashing.

For what it's worth, The story is true. The player it was done to was a guild leader (Bamx, of the guild Avarice) on US-Warsong back in vanilla. Some fine trolling was had that night.

No, they're not listening to us. Otherwise, we'd have LAN support in SC2, proper chat channels, and many other things that we've been asking for years. The backlash was just too big, as they would've known if they had thought about this for a single minute. Problem is, they're too busy trying to emulate facebook and thinking how to make us cough our data to make a ton of money out of it.

Blizzard has completely lost its way. Before Kotick, quality and the fans were the top priority. Now, it's money money money.
