About Hellmode

Hellmode is a blog. A blog about video games.

Initially formed in June 2010 as both a celebration and exploration of gaming culture, it’s quickly become a place for the editors to write about anything that interests them. At Hellmode, you can find anything from retrospectives about games from long ago to in-depth critiques of contemporary titles.

If you would like to know more, you can read the FAQ or contact the editors.

By day, Rollin is actually mild-mannered 26-year-old freelance writer Rollin Bishop. By night, the sun usually sets but he is otherwise still Rollin Bishop. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Indiana University Southeast, owns far too many games and isn’t fond of the Oxford comma. His favorite game is liable to change without notice but typically has something to do with Pokémon.

Yojimbo: “You are a fading dream, but one touched by reality. Spira will not forget its reality, nor the one who saved it. Run, dream; run on. Pass beyond the waking and walk into the daylight.”

Hellmode’s layout was designed Ashelia in Photoshop CS3 then coded on its own, custom built WordPress theme. Hellmode is hosted by Linode (thanks Jacob for the constant help!) and lives by Google Analytics. Additionally, we’d would like to give a special thank you to Direceu Veiga for creating the best RSS subscribe icons we’ve have ever seen. They are adorable monsters and they are used with permission as well as love. Wonderful work, Direceu, and thanks for making them freeware.
